One day earlier this summer, while working on this track, I took a break to play Mario Kart on my phone. I was in the middle of a race on Rainbow Road when my girlfriend of 7 years came home and broke up with me out of the blue.

I forgot about it entirely, while dealing with the situation, but days later I had this weird moment. The mobile app has no quit race feature, so the next time I opened the app, it picked up on the race I was in the middle of when it happened. It also technically doesn't require you to do much, it has a fair bit of auto driving, so I just kind of watched this sad Luigi bump his way down rainbow road and eventually come to a last place finish in order to close that chapter of my life.

Anyway it kind of changed my relationship with the song and the course in the process. I tried to capture a little of the sadness and the chaos of it in the track. Hope you dig it.
